Ten new volunteers were sworn in as members of Henrico Court Appointed Special Advocates Oct. 11 by Stacy E. Lee, presiding judge in Henrico County’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. The volunteers spent six weeks donating 40 hours to participate in Henrico CASA’s comprehensive training.

As CASAs, each volunteer will advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, becoming a source of stability and support. They also will impact each child’s future by making recommendations to the court system regarding the child’s best interests.

“The caring adult relationship our volunteer advocates provide is critical to helping vulnerable youth stay safe and avoid homelessness, teen pregnancy, unemployment, substance use and more,” said Jeannine Panzera, executive director of Henrico CASA. “By advocating for them, we can make sure they have the resources and support they need to thrive in the future.”

Henrico CASA is hosting a virtual information session Nov. 9 at noon to share details about the volunteer process and available opportunities. Register at eventbrite.com/e/704821920337.
